DID YOU KNOW?

Fortnum & Mason has sold tea for more than 300 years, with their signature 'Royal Blend' a favourite.

Fortnum & Mason was founded by William Fortnum, a footman in the royal household of Queen Anne and his landlord, Hugh Mason. The company's royal connections continued in 1761, when Fortnum's grandson Charles was in the service of Queen Charlotte.

During the Crimean war in the 1850s, Queen Victoria sent a Fortnum & Masons's beef tea to nurse Florence Nightingale to help care for the wounded. Despite the name, beef tea contains no tea leaf, but is a hot beverage of similar colour that could provide cheap and instant nourishment.
